I was inspired to make a fancy headband from this tutorial, but I don't have any velvet ribbon or feathers. What I did have was some black wool yarn and some black beaded vintage embellishments that look kind of feathery. It's just a strand of i-corn slipped over a cheap plastic headband and secured on the ends with a couple of stitches. My headband had little teeth which catches the wool nicely and keeps it from sliding around. I used a needle and thread to stitch the appliques onto the wool and I also sewed a piece of black felt to the backside of the feathers to add durability and keep the beads from catching on my hair. Don't you love it? I have been wearing it a lot! Now I just need to get my hands on some velvet so I can make myself some non-knitted accessories.

I haven't posted in awhile because I have been going through some major life discoveries. One of them is learning that I have Aspergers syndrome. There is more where that came from as it connects to a lot of other issues but for now I will keep it simple. I would like to keep this blog about knitting and my other interests, etc. and not necessarily about my disability. But... since some of you may care about me and what else is going on in my life I wanted to let you know about my new blog called Unicorn Diaries. It's a blog where I can just ramble on about my experiences with AS as an emotional release. I will appreciate any support you are willing to give during this difficult transition. This is probably all I will mention about this here so if you are at all interested in my thoughts than bookmark the new blog now. It is brand new so I will be working on formatting and such a little bit at a time.

I hope to be back in the knitting groove soon. In fact I made another scarf that you will love.

Thanks friends.

It was a weird weekend though and the festival scheduling seemed pretty wacky. I got to see Pearl Jam and they were awesome of course, Mike McCready especially. I mean, who doesn't like Pearl Jam? I am a huge fan of Modest Mouse, and I am glad I got to see them, but their set was only an hour long and the sound system sucked. Dave Matthews was sweet and I watched them from really far away where the sound was waaay better.

I also got to see Bat For Lashes! Here are some pics of Natasha rockin it during the show. She was amazing and just as good as the headliners.

I walked right passed The Dead Weather and said, "That sounds just like Jack White." Well I didn't even think that was a possibility so I just kept walking, and it was totally him. omg. Idiot.
I sent Ashley a rough draft of my Indian Summer Beanie Pattern and she knit it up and sent me pics in less than a week. Wow, how exciting! It makes me beyond happy to see what other people make with my patterns. She found a couple of errors for me so now I can finish the final copy. I really love the color she chose. It would also be really pretty in a slightly variegated blue. Thanks again ashley, I hope you make these for all your friends and family, and thanks for letting me show off these pics of your new hat.
