Big Cartel

I created a new shop today. It's hosted by Big Cartel and so far so good. I love etsy but I feel very lost there. I'd like my blog visitors to be able to go right to my shop and buy directly from me. If you wanted to go to etsy, you wouldn't be here right? ;)

Plus it is so much simpler. There is no need to write page long descriptions, no tags to choose, and I don't have to bother relisting everything daily. I really like that the shop home page links back to my blog and that I am able to put things in multiple categories if I so choose. The most fantastic benefit is that customers are not required to sign up for any sort of membership and a paypal account is not required. Easy peasy.

I moved a few items to the new shop and reduced the prices a little as a test run. I'm not ready to leave etsy for good and if I ever do I will really miss the heart warming feedback messages I get from my darling customers.

Clean White Love

I'm still here. My camera is broken. I have another one that I must find today so that I can show off my new kittens. I adopted three of them. Been plugging away at my managerial accounting class. Pondering what direction to take my little hobby business and trying not to delete everything in frustrated moments. I made some darling leaf garlands, a fancy headband, and a pair of gloves for my boy.

Hope you enjoy this cheery video by Lisa Mitchell.

My October

The rain is here! October is my favorite month in California because summer is still lingering around under the cover of fog and drizzle.

Pattern Available

I published my Indian Summer Beanie Pattern today. All of you Ravelry members can purchase and download the pdf from the pattern page

I also made it available in my Etsy shop as a Made To Order listing. Yes that's right, I will make one just for you. Keep me busy.

Knitting Patterns

Hi guys,

I'd like to discuss some business with you. I am going to be spending more time on my tiny little company so you will probably notice some subtle changes around here. My knitting patterns are no longer going to be available on my website. They will only be available in my Ravelry store. Ravelry is an online knitting community and so far only members have access to my pattern store. If you're a knitter and you aren't a Ravelry member you should get your briches on over there and sign up (you can thank me later).

If you are a Ravelry member you can view my profile and my patterns. Don't forget to add me to your friends.

I put a lot of thought into this decision and since my target market for knitting patterns are knitters I feel Ravelry will be the best place for them. My etsy customers are probably not knitters and I'd like to focus my business on handmade items not patterns. I love being a designer and I am mostly doing it for myself and the benefit of my business but I don't mind contributing some of my patterns to the knitting community.

Unicorn Diaries

Hi everyone.

I haven't posted in awhile because I have been going through some major life discoveries. One of them is learning that I have Aspergers syndrome. There is more where that came from as it connects to a lot of other issues but for now I will keep it simple. I would like to keep this blog about knitting and my other interests, etc. and not necessarily about my disability. But... since some of you may care about me and what else is going on in my life I wanted to let you know about my new blog called Unicorn Diaries. It's a blog where I can just ramble on about my experiences with AS as an emotional release. I will appreciate any support you are willing to give during this difficult transition. This is probably all I will mention about this here so if you are at all interested in my thoughts than bookmark the new blog now. It is brand new so I will be working on formatting and such a little bit at a time.

I hope to be back in the knitting groove soon. In fact I made another scarf that you will love.

Thanks friends.

Bat For Lashes

Even though I didn't want to go to the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco because the Beastie Boys cancelled I still went and saw some good shows. It was a weird weekend though and the festival scheduling seemed pretty wacky. I got to see Pearl Jam and they were awesome of course, Mike McCready especially. I mean, who doesn't like Pearl Jam? I am a huge fan of Modest Mouse, and I am glad I got to see them, but their set was only an hour long and the sound system sucked. Dave Matthews was sweet and I watched them from really far away where the sound was waaay better.

I also got to see Bat For Lashes! Here are some pics of Natasha rockin it during the show. She was amazing and just as good as the headliners.

And to end by proving that I am not always very bright...

I walked right passed The Dead Weather and said, "That sounds just like Jack White." Well I didn't even think that was a possibility so I just kept walking, and it was totally him. omg. Idiot. Pay better attention to the schedule next time brilliant Jess, because THE DEAD WEATHER is never coming to a town near you ever again! Ha.

Strawberry Paper

Another package I shipped out recently. Don't you love the new strawberry stamp I thrifted? I definitely see a theme of wild animals and fruit starting to materialize.

The sale is over, sad but true. I'm glad a couple of you got to take advantage of it. I also listed two new items.

Thank You Ashley

I sent Ashley a rough draft of my Indian Summer Beanie Pattern and she knit it up and sent me pics in less than a week. Wow, how exciting! It makes me beyond happy to see what other people make with my patterns. She found a couple of errors for me so now I can finish the final copy. I really love the color she chose. It would also be really pretty in a slightly variegated blue. Thanks again ashley, I hope you make these for all your friends and family, and thanks for letting me show off these pics of your new hat.
